Today's reading: Psalms 134-139(135-140) By the waters of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, when we remembered Zion. Psalm 136/137:1 ![]() Psalm 136/137 is a beautiful reminder that the Psalms are a collection of poetry. The first several verses of this chapter are some of the most beautiful poetry that there is. In case you didn't get a chance to complete today's reading, here are the first five verses. By the waters of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, when we remembered Zion. On the willows there we hung up our lyres. For there our captors required of us songs, and our tormentors, mirth, saying, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!" How shall we sing the LORD's song in a foreign land? If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither! May this little bit of beauty renew your strength as we approach Holy Week! |
