 Fr. Tom Michalos holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology (1992) from Wayne State University, a Master of Divinity Degree (1995) from Holy Cross Orthodox School of Theology, and Master Degree (2000) in Counselor Education from WSU. He is also a Licensed Counselor (LLPC) in the state of Michigan. Currently he is completing a school counseling internship at the International Academy of Macomb while beginning a Doctoral program in Counselor Education at WSU. Fr. Tom was assigned for one year to the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople upon graduating from HCHC. Returning to Detroit in 1996, he immediately began work as the Youth Director for the Diocese of Detroit. In 1998, Fr. Tom married Denise Stavropoulos and they have four children, Soterios, Vasiliki, Vethania and Konstandinos.
Fr. Tom worked in the office of the Bishop (Diocese of Detroit) 1999-2002. Ordained to the Diaconate (2000) and to the Priesthood (2002) by His Eminence Metropolitan Meliton of Phildelphia, he served as the first deacon to his Grace Bishop Nicholas and in 2002 began his first assignment as assistant at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in St. Clair Shores, MI. Fr. Tom received the Offikia of Sakellarios (2005) and Economos (2007). In December 2009, he was assigned as the Proistamenos of the Annunciation Church of Fort Myers, FL. Raised at St. John’s parish in Sterling Heights, MI, serving as altar boy, GOYA President, and Youth Advisor. In addition he has served as Clergy Syndesmos Secretary, APC representative, and APC Secretary. |
