Fr. Michael Marcantoni was born to Puerto Rican parents on Charleston Navy Base in October of 1980. During college he Enlisted in the Army Reserves. He graduated from the Defense Language Institute Basic Arabic Course in May 2002 as well as completing his Bachelor's degree that same year. He was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom from November 2002-August 2003. It was during this deployment that he first felt called to the Priesthood. After the war he took a job as a contract linguist in support of ongoing military operations. The job took him first to Mainz, Germany in January 2004 where he met Presbytera Katherine. Presbytera Katherine, at the time, was a student at the Johannes Gutenberg University. She is from Arequipa, Peru, they married in 2006. |
