Fr. Jon was born to Steve and Vaso Boukis on November 29, 1969 in Parma, Ohio. He graduated Cum Laude with his Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Akron in 1995. Shortly after receiving his degree, on October 14, 1995, Fr. Jon and Presbytera Doreece (Spencer) were united in marriage. He then worked for 7 years in the fields of accounting, personal finance and sales, before attending seminary. Fr. Jon attended Holy Cross in Brookline, MA from 2002 to 2005, graduating with a Masters of Divinity with High Distinction. He follows the path of 7 generations of priests in his family including his uncle, Fr. Peter Costarakis, and cousin, Fr. Demetri Costarakis, who are currently serving in the Metropolis of Boston. One of the greatest blessings Fr. Jon and Presbytera Doreece received while at Holy Cross during his last year was the birth of their daughter, Vasilia, on August 13, 2004.
Fr. Jon was ordained at the hand of Metropolitan Maximos of Pittsburgh to the Holy Deaconate on November 27, 2004 and to the Holy Priesthood on July 30, 2005. He served as the Associate Pastor at the Annunciation Parish of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from August 2005 through March 2007 and as the Proistamenos of the Assumption Parish of East Moline, Illinois, from March 2007 through July 2014. In East Moline, he was truly blessed to have been given the privilege of participating the Holy Consecration of the Parish. Most recently Fr. Jon has been assigned as the Proistamenos to the Assumption Parish of Louisville, Kentucky, and is most excited for what the future will bring at the Parish he has been blessed to serve. |
