Rev. Father Christopher (Jeffrey) Abell was ordained to the Holy Priesthood on June 13, 2015 by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit and is assigned to the Metropolis of Detroit as a priest with a lay vocation. Father Christopher was ordained to the Holy Diaconate on December 18, 2011 by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit at the St. George Church in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Father John, a.k.a. Artemakis, was born on the island of Crete in Greece. She came to the United States with his family in 1947 and they settled in Chicago.
After finishing high school, Father John studied at our Holy Cross Seminary in Brookline, MA for one year. He then returned to Greece in 1959 and studied at the Rizarios Seminary in Athens. Then he continued studies at the School of Theology of Athens University. He graduated with a Master's Degree in Sacred Theology (M.S.T.) in 1964.
Rev. Dr. Michael Bahlatzis was born in 1957 in Brooklyn, NY to Dionysios and Angeliki of Greece. Fr. Michael graduated with highest honors from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine with the D.P.M. (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine) degree in 1987 and from UHSA School of Medicine in 2007 with the M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) degree. He received the Dr. H. Harvey Haber Memorial Award for Excellence and Proficiency in Clinical Diagnosis in 1987.
Fr. Stavros Ballas, son of James and Aspasia, was born on May 16, 1957 and raised in Keene, New Hampshire. He earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire.
Captain William J. Bartz, the son of Father and Mrs. George Bartz, was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and raised in Akron, Ohio. After graduating from Hellenic College, Brookline, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Religion, he received a Masters of Divinity degree from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in 1978.
Chaplain Bartz was commissioned as an Ensign in the Naval Chaplain Corps Theological Student Program in May 1977 and ordained a Greek Orthodox priest in March 1982.
