Father Christopher (Jeffrey) Abell was ordained to the Holy Priesthood on June 13, 2015 by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit and is assigned to the Metropolis of Detroit as a priest with a lay vocation. Father Christopher was ordained to the Holy Diaconate on December 18, 2011 by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit at the St. George Church in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Fr. Stavros Ballas, son of James and Aspasia, was born on May 16, 1957 and raised in Keene, New Hampshire. He earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire. In 1992 he married Theano (Thea) Gormanos, daughter of John and Karrie of Spokane, Washington. In 1994 Fr. Stavros entered the Seminary and earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1997. After several months of further study in Greece, Fr. Stavros was ordained by His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon to the holy Diaconate at Holy Trinity Cathedral in New York City on March 8, 1998 and to the holy Priesthood on April 4, 1998 at Saint George’s in Southgate, Michigan, serving as assistant priest under Fr. Philemon Karamanos until October, 2001.

Being a part of the Metropolis of Detroit is a homecoming of sorts for Fr. Jim. He was born in (East) Grand Rapids, Michigan just days before Christmas of 1956, the son of a Baptist minister. Within a year of being born, the Detroit Lions would win their last NFL Championship. At the age of six, his family moved to Battle Creek (the site of Sts. Constantine & Helen Chapel was once home to Calvary Baptist Church, formerly pastored by his father). He graduated "laudi how cum" from Wheaton College (outside of Chicago) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 1979.

​Fr. Jon was born to Steve and Vaso Boukis on November 29, 1969 in Parma, Ohio.  He graduated Cum Laude with his Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Akron in 1995. Shortly after receiving his degree, on October 14, 1995, Fr. Jon and Presbytera Doreece (Spencer) were united in marriage.  He then worked for 7 years in the fields of accounting, personal finance and sales, before attending seminary.

​Father Bill was born January 13, 1950, in Spokane, Washington to Greek-American parents. His Greek heritage is linked to Lamia and Arcadia Greece. He attended public schools in Spokane and graduated in 1968 from Shadle Park High School.

He entered Hellenic College in 1968 and received his B.A. in 1973. He entered Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and earned a Master of Divinity with honors in 1975.

Father Lucas Christensen, son of S. Mark and Leesha Christensen, was born in Beulah, North Dakota and raised in Burlington, Iowa, Gillette and Casper, Wyoming. He graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Theology. After moving to Bloomington, Indiana, he worked as an administrator at Indiana University’s main campus from 2007-2013.

​Fr. Timothy was born in Flagstaff, Arizona in 1988 as the third of eight children. He received his education at home through high school and enrolled at Hillsdale College in the fall of 2006. While at Hillsdale he met and married his wife Catherine, and they both converted to Orthodoxy in 2009. Fr. Timothy graduated from Hillsdale College with a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies in 2010.

​Born in 1947 in Huntington, WV, Fr. Patrick Cowles graduated from Marshall University with BA and MA degrees, worked for three years, and then entered doctoral studies in Political Science at UMass-Amherst. Obtaining his PhD in 1979, he taught for four years, and then became Senior Research Associate for the Center for Urban Affairs at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. During this time, he discovered the Orthodox faith, and entered the Church in 1987. His love for his new faith led him to enroll in seminary in 1990.

Furthering his studies Father Philemon graduated from Syracuse University, New York, 1967 and later attended the University of Detroit receiving a M.A. in New Testament in 1972.

Dcn. Andrew was born in Toledo, Ohio to Phillip and Cheryl Leathers (Kallil) in 1976. Growing up in the military, the family moved frequently before settling in Kentucky. He attended the University of
Kentucky, earning a B.A. in History and Political Science in 1999. Having met his future wife in high school, he and Laura Collins were married in 2001 and together they have six children. Dcn. Andrew enrolled at The Ohio State University and completed a M.B.A. in 2006. Since that time, he has been working in the field of supply chain management.

Father Angelo Maggos grew up in Tarpon Springs, FL.  He graduated from Tarpon Springs High School and received a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering Degree from the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL. Father married Presvytera Teri in 1984 and worked in the Defense Industry, which in turn influenced his decision to serve his country in the US Army for 10 years, serving in both the United States and Germany. After leaving the military, he worked for General Motors and began an Engineering and Management consulting business in 1997, working throughout Europe and Asia.

​Father Joseph Mammis was born on August 19, 1972 in Montreal, Canada by parents who had emigrated from Greece. He received his general education in Montreal and is fluent in three languages. After graduating from high school, he went on to receive his degree in Athletic Therapy from Concordia University which included a two year internship in clinical work. His daily life as a student included politics, athletics, and involvement as an active member of the Greek Orthodox Community in Montreal. He then entered the monastic life in 1995, at the monastery of St. Anthony in Florence, AZ, and was tonsured a monk in November of 1996.

Father Michael was born to Chris and Kathy Manos, and grew up at the parish of Assumption of the Theotokos in St. Clair Shores.  He was ordained to the diaconate in August of 2015, and to the priesthood one month later.  He is married to Presvytera Kerri (Kyriaki), and has a growing family.  He is a student and teacher of Greek language and Classical Studies.

MARCANTONI, FR. MICHAEL

Fr. Michael Marcantoni was born to Puerto Rican parents on Charleston Navy Base in October of 1980. During college he Enlisted in the Army Reserves. He graduated from the Defense Language Institute Basic Arabic Course in May 2002 as well as completing his Bachelor's degree that same year. He was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom from November 2002-August 2003. It was during this deployment that he first felt called to the Priesthood. After the war he took a job as a contract linguist in support of ongoing military operations. The job took him first to Mainz, Germany in January 2004 where he met Presbytera Katherine. Presbytera Katherine, at the time, was a student at the Johannes Gutenberg University. She is from Arequipa, Peru, they married in 2006.

Paul was born in Chicago, IL in 1951 and ordained to the Holy Priesthood at the Pro-Cathedral of St. Michael, Hammond, IN on January 20, 2001 by His Eminence Archbishop Vsevolod of the UOCUSA.  He was incardinated into the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in 2009, and in 2017 His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit bestowed the office of Economos on him.

Fr. Jon McClish was born and raised in Akron, OH where he faithfully attended the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. He graduate Holy Cross in 2015 and has served as pastoral assistant to the communities of Holy Cross in Pittsburgh, PA; Holy Trinity, Nashville, TN; and Annunciation Dayton, OH. Fr. Jon met his wife Presvytera Elyse while in Nashville, and they were married in September of 2020. Fr. Jon was Ordained to the Holy Diaconate in September of 2021 and to the Holy Priesthood in February 2022 at Holy Trinity - St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church where he now serves as the Assistant Priest to Fr. Mark Emroll.

Tom Michalos holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology (1992) from Wayne State University, a Master of Divinity Degree (1995) from Holy Cross Orthodox School of Theology, and Master Degree (2000) in Counselor Education from WSU. He is also a Licensed Counselor (LLPC) in the state of Michigan.  Currently he is completing a school counseling internship at the International Academy of Macomb while beginning a Doctoral program in Counselor Education at WSU.

After graduation, he worked for three years at Liberty Mutual in White Plains, NY, while discerning a call to ministry. In 2011, he left Liberty Mutual and enrolled at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology outside Boston, MA.

Reverend Father Nicholas Pathenos graduated from Hellenic College and Holy Cross School of Theology, M.Div. in 1980.  He was in the Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.  He has done post-graduate coursework toward his Doctorate Dissertation in Philosophy at the University of Illinois from 1986-1990.

Father Nicholas began his career as an assistant priest for two years at Annunciation Cathedral in Denver.  He then became the pastor of St. Nicholas Church in Corpus Christi, Texas from 1983-1986.

He attended Eastern Michigan University where he completed his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in late 1980s and a master's degree in Technology Management and Assessment in early 1990s. In the late 1990s, he completed a master's degree in Business Administration at the University of Phoenix.

​Fr. Alex was born in 1979 in Sibiu, Romania to Eugen and Monica Radulescu. He attended the “Simion Stefan” High School of Theology in the city of Alba Iulia, graduating in 1999. Coming back to his hometown, he enrolled at the “Andrei Saguna” Institute of Theology where he graduated with a University Degree in Pastoral Theology in 2003.

Following a visit in the fall of 2002 to Detroit, he decided to further his studies at the Roman Catholic Sacred Heart Major Seminary, applying for a M.A. degree in Theology. During his time at the Sacred Heart, he volunteered as a chanter at the St. George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral in Southfield, Michigan. Upon presenting his M.A. thesis "St. Gregory Palamas: Controversy and Reception in the 14th Century," he graduated with honors in May 2006.

In 2010, he entered Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts graduating with the professional degree of Master of Divinity, with high distinction. Fr. Jarrod also completed the advanced theological research degree of Master of Theology at Holy Cross, graduating with highest distinction.

Fr. Steven is the son of James and Florence Sarigianis and the grandson of the Reverend Fr. Steven M. and Presbytera Electra Sarigianis.

He graduated Hickory High School (now Hermitage, PA.) and entered Christ the Savior Seminary in September of that year. He graduated with a licentiate of Theology May 1, 1973 and then married Marlene Ann Saloka of Johnston, PA on October 21 at Christ the Savior Cathedral.

David Smith was born January 19, 1959 in Syracuse, NY.  His education was at Drew University (BA), Asbury Theological Seminary (MDiv), and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (DMin).  He and Presbytera Donna, also a Syracuse native, married in 1983, and became Orthodox in 1988.  They have four children, Caleb (married to Tanja), Jesse (married to Yasmine), Ana (married to Shaun), and Lucy, and two granddaughters, Zoe and Macie.  Presbytera Donna is an iconographer and an avid gardener.

​Father Ciprian was born on June 11, 1980 in Sibiu, Romania. He was raised in a priestly family, his father being a priest for more than 34 years. After attending the local schools, he enrolled in the Faculty of Theology, where he completed two years of theological studies. In January 2002, he transferred to the Hellenic College in Boston, from which he graduated in May 2005 with the highest distinction. In May 2007, Father Ciprian graduated Holy Cross School of Theology with high distinction, obtaining a degree in Master of Divinity.

​Father Tasikas was born on January 9, 1940 in Drosopigi, Florina (Greece). He graduated the Hellenic College in 1964 and the Holy Cross School of Theology in 1967.

​Father is married to Presbytera Sofia (Melliou) and they have 3 children: Danny, Vasilios, Grigorios; and five grandchildren.

Theoharis was born in Milwaukee, WI on January 2, 1942 and was educated in the Milwaukee school system graduateding in June of 1960, studying engineering for two year before enrolling at Holy Cross in September, 1962 and graduated June 1969. He also studied at the University of Thessaloniki as a graduate student from September 1969 to June 1971.

Father Simon Thomas graduated from Hellenic College in 1997, and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in 2000. A native of California, Father Simon was raised at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Modesto, CA. He attended UC Davis as a Pre-Med student out of high school, but was called to the Priesthood during his studies.

Deacon Vasili was born on November 30, 1945, in Jackson Mississippi, to Theologos and Domna Vallas from the Island of Patmos, Greece. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietman War. He received his Juris Doctor Degree, Cum Laude, from Mississippi College School of Law in 1976. Thereafter, Dcn. Vasili practiced law and had his own firm in Jackson until he retired in 2012.

​Fr. Michael Varlamos was born in Highland Park, Michigan on August 14, 1962. He graduated from Livonia Bentley High School in 1980. He pursued studies in electrical engineering at Schoolcraft College and Lawrence Technological University. Before completing his engineering studies Fr. Michael decided to seek studies in Orthodox Theology at the Hellenic College in Brookline, MA where he received several academic honors. He graduated in 1987 as Valedictorian of his class with a BA in Religious Studies.

​Born November 13, 1925 in New Orleans, LA enrolled in 1942 at age 16 at Holy Cross in Pomfret, he was ordained October 26, 1948. He served for one year in Louisville, KY, and five in Huntington, WV.  In 1955 he was assigned to the Memphis Annunciation Church where he served until 1991.

Born in 1977 in South Bend, IN, Fr. Andrew Walsh graduated from Hellenic College in May 2003 and then enrolled in Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. In May of 2004 he graduated from Holy Cross with an M.Div with high honors. On August 14th 2004 Father Andrew was ordained by Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago to the Holy Diaconate at St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church in South Bend, IN. He was later ordained a priest by Metropolitan Alexios on December 19th 2004 in Charlotte, NC at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

Spiros also has a PhD in Music Eduation and teaches in Troy, MI.

Deacon Vasilios grew up in Endicott, NY, a grandchild of Greek immigrants who came to the USA in the 1920s.  While serving as an adult acolyte under the guidance and leadership of Rev. Fr. Michael Bahlatzis, Dcn. Vasilios began the St. Stephens’ Course of Orthodox Theology in 2011. The following year, with the blessings of Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit and Fr. Bahlatzis, he enrolled in the Hellenic College Holy Cross Special program for the Diaconate which he completed in 2014.

Father Philip E. Yanulis was born on June 8, 1951 in Syracuse, NY.  After graduating West Genesee High School June, 1969, he attending Syracuse University and received a Bachelor Degree in Music in May, 1973.
 
Father Philip was accepted in the Master of Divinity Program at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.  He attended that school from September, 1973 to May, 1976.
