Deacon George (Edward) was ordained on November 19, 2011 by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan after a lifetime of servitude in the Orthodox Church. Hellenic College Holy Cross offered the Special Student Certificate to him in 2014 after due diligence and dedication in the program.
He has taught generations of acolytes to serve in the Holy Altar. After seventeen years as Sub Deacon he began the St. Stephens’ Course of Orthodox Theology in 1990. He attended numerous Orthodox Christian SYNERGY Symposiums and various Orthodox workshops such as The Antiochian House of Studies, The Tri-Level Institute at Holy Cross School of Theology as well as the (PanOrthodox) Orthodox Institute. He has represented Holy Trinity for Clergy/Laity conferences.
In May 2011, he made his fourth journey to the Holy Land where he witnessed and was inspired to see where our Lord walked, taught, healed and was crucified for us. His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas ordained George on the feast day of the Prophet Obadiah meaning “Servant of the Lord” and is attached to St Spyridon Chapel at the Metropolis of Detroit.
