Delegate Registration: The registration fee is $295 per delegate and should be sent to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Buffalo, NY by September 1, 2017. For registrations received after September 1, 2017 the fee will be $345. All Registration forms must be received by Thursday, September 14, 2017.
Hotel Reservations: The Hyatt Regency and Conference Center, Two Fountain Plaza, Buffalo NY 14202 will be the hotel for the Clergy Laity and Philoptochos Conferences. Please call the hotel at (888) 421-1442 to make reservations or use this link. A block of rooms have been held at the rate of $125 per night and mention that you are with the Greek Orthodox Church.
You must make your room reservation by September 4, 2017. After this date, rooms may not be available and the rate will increase to the regular rate.
Meals & Expenses: All scheduled meals are included with the cost of registration with the exception of Thursday evening which will be a free evening for the delegates.
Arriving by Air: The Buffalo-Niagara International airport is approximately 15-20 minutes from hotel. The hotel does not have an airport shuttle.
Before you arrive: Please read the Uniform Metropolis Regulations, pages 16-20 of the newly issued Regulations of the Archdiocese of America. These are very important and will be helpful to you in carrying out your duties as a Delegate.
Guests & Other Non-Delegates: Conference plenary sessions and committee meetings are reserved for Delegates only. Guests and other non-delegates are invited to attend learning sessions, presentations, workshops and meals. See the Non-delegate Ticket form for information.
Agenda Items to be considered at the Conference: The Regulations provide that only items approved by a Parish’s general assembly may be brought before the Conference (A Metropolis Clergy-Laity Conference is called a “Local Assembly” in the Regulations- See. Article 11, Section 9 below).
Section 9: Any Parish having items it wishes considered at the Congress or Local Assembly shall:
A. First submit them to the Parish Assembly for approval, and if approved
B. Send a copy of the approved items together with the necessary documentation to the Metropolis, following which it
C. May present them on the floor of the Local Assembly for consideration and, if approved by the Local Assembly, they shall be included in the items submitted to the Archdiocese.
Please remember that you are a representative of your Parish and you are to be presenting your Parish’s position on topics, not your personal views. Meeting Chairpersons will have the discretion to determine if a Delegate seems to be presenting a Parish view or a personal view.
